Board President
Mark Stinson
I was one of the founding members of the HEAT association and have held the office of Director, and President. My qualifications are I’ve been a Fleet manager for the past 14 years and worked in the public Fleet including Emergency vehicle repairs for the last 29 years. I hold both the M1 and M2 EVT certifications I also hold the Certified Public Fleet Professional Certification (CPFP) through the APWA. I’ve enjoyed the progress and the building of the HEAT Association and would very much like to see it continue.

He has been the Fleet Manager since 1999. In the course of his career he has held five ASE Master Certificates, the AAIA World Class Technician status and is currently an APWA Certified Public Fleet Professional. He has been involved with the APWA KC Metro Fleet Group for the past fourteen years. This group works to provide training for area technicians. Steve is a founding member of the Heartland Emergency Apparatus Technicians Association (HEAT) and believes it is providing an important and necessary service to public safety departments and technicians of the region.

Board Treasurer
Boyd Powers
As many of you already know I was one of the founding fathers of the HEAT association and served as its first President and first Past President. I spent 31 years in an emergency vehicle shop in Wichita Ks as an ambulance mechanic and also a shop foreman. I did retire from that position last year and came to work for Mark Stinson and the City of Lee’s Summit MO. I serve as their shop foreman in an emergency vehicle shop over 5 mechanics and one parts specialist position. I will always strive to have any shop I am involved with producing the highest quality repairs on emergency vehicles and that requires training and certifications through EVT. I have served in some capacity as the Treasurer for HEAT in the early days and when Steve Stewart was elected he took the job to the next level and streamlined the process greatly. I would be honored to accept this position if those voting make it so. Thanks for reading.   Boyd

Kevin Griffith
I have been the maintenance field for the past 30 years. I attended St Paul Technical college in St Paul MN with a degree in truck mechanics. I have worked for 3 trucking companies in my career. I started with Yellow Freight in 1984 as a mechanic in St Paul MN. I promoted to shop supervisor and transferred to Memphis in 1987. I left Yellow in 1997 and went work as the garage manager for a company named TSL in Memphis. I worked there, answering to the Director of maintenance until the company decided to close the Memphis shop and I was offered to transfer to Fort Smith AR or Charlotte NC. I declined the transfer to keep my family in the Memphis area and handled the closure of the Memphis shop. After TSL I went to work as a shop foreman for Roadway Express, I was a shop Forman f or 4 years and then promoted to yard control manger which was my only venture out of maintenance. I was the Yard Control Manager for 1 year. In 2003 the Town of Collierville had an opening for a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor. I accepted the position on Sept 15 2003 and have been there ever since. During my time here I have become a Master EVT and Master ASE Truck Mechanic. I keep these credentials current and that is how I found HEAT. We have a 10 bay shop in Collierville TN. Collierville is about 30 miles east of Memphis on the TN/MS line. We have 5 mechanic, an administrative assistant and an office assistant on staff. We service 11 different divisions ranging from Fire and Police to parks and rec and codes. We have 400 pieces of rolling stock that we maintain on at least an annual basis. We work closely with Fire, doing all their annual inspections and repairs. We are involved in their annual pump testing as well as consulting on most of their purchasing issues.

Byron Long
My emergency service maintenance background began in 1980 when I was promoted to engineer at the Ballwin Fire District. Engineers at that time were tasked with maintenance as well as driving/pumping duties. Our duties covered all apparatus and equipment, fire rescue, & EMS.
In the early 1990”s, the Fire District changed names as did our maintenance program. I was one of four individuals who became the core of the MetroWest Fire District Maintenance Division. About this time, I also began assisting the Boles Fire District with their fledgling maintenance program.
In 2011, I retired from the MetroWest Fire District, and with my free time have been placed in charge of the Boles maintenance program.
